The Idiotic Way Of Things *HikaruxReader*

You sighed as you picked up yet another beer mug and started wiping it down with the grungy rag you held in your hand. Stupid job. Why did your boyfriend make you get it again? Oh yeah. He said it would be good for you if you started earning an income of your own.

The guy's a freaking millionaire. Plus I live with him, so I don't really see why I needed to get this job. I mean, I understand why he wanted me to get a job. That's perfectly reasonable. But couldn't that have waited until I'm done with college and have my degree? Why did he push me to get a job? And why is he letting me work here? I could get raped for crying out loud!

</I>You had just recently gotten a job at this disgusting bar on the bad side of town. And somehow your usually jealous and overprotective boyfriend was perfectly okay with it. He wanted you to get a job that bad.

So now here you were. All by yourself, closing the bar you have come to hate, and you only had your boyfriend to thank.

"Hey [y/n]!" Well speak of the devil.

"Hi Hikaru." You smiled sweetly in his direction, then looked back down at the mug you were scrubbing, scowling.

"You okay?"

"Yeah, I just hate this job. I'd much rather be spending my time studying for my classes."

"Oh come on [y/n]. It's not that bad."

"Yes it is Hikaru!" You threw the rag down and turned to glare at him, your hands on your hips.

"All sorts of weird perverts come in here and the way they look at me is just disgusting! I hate this job so much!"

"[y/n], calm down-"

"How can you tell me to calm down? Why did you insist so much that I take this job when they offered it to me?"

"… Because… just in case things don't work out between us. I want to make sure that you are earning money so that you could live comfortably without me."

You stared at him. "You honestly think things might not work out between us?"

"Well-"

"You have so little hope for us that you made me get a job in a bar? I have told you about how my boss asked me to do 'stuff' with him, haven't I?"

"[y/n]-"

"No, never mind." You walked out from behind bar and headed towards the door. When you reached it, you looked behind you at Hikaru, who looked shocked at your sudden outburst.

"Hikaru, I'm not asking for a marriage proposal, but I do want to know there's a future for us. I don't want to be wasting my time." With that, you turned back around and held your hand out to open the door, not caring if you were completely walking out on your job duties.

"[y/n], wait." Hikaru ran up to you and grabbed your hand, turning you around. Still clutching your left hand, he kneeled down and gazed into your eyes.

It was your turn to be shocked. "Hikaru, what are you-"

"[y/n]," he started. "I've known and loved you for years and I can't stand the thought of losing you over something as stupid as this, so I just want to ask you…" He fumbled around with his jacket pocked for a second, since he was still holding your hand with one of his, but he finally managed to get something out of his pocket. Dropping your hand, he slowly opened the velvet box.

"Will you marry me?"

No doubt about it, you were shocked. Your hands were over your mouth as you stared at the beautiful ring that was in front of you. Then you came to a sudden realization.

And smacked Hikaru upside the head.

"Idiot! You're proposing to me in a bar! What kind of plan was that!?"

"Ouch! You didn't give me much of a choice. I was planning to propose in a place much more romantic. Now are you saying yes or what?"

"Of course I'm saying yes!" You yanked the ring out of the box and slipped onto your ring finger. You held your hand out in front of you, admiring it.

Hikaru chuckled and stood up from the uncomfortable kneeling position he was in. "Love you [y/n]."

"Love you too Hikaru… Wait. Why did you make me get this horrible job if you were planning on proposing to me anyway!?" You smacked his head again.

"That really hurts [y/n]! Knock it off!" Hikaru flinched and rubbed his head where you hit it. "I made you get this job because I wanted to throw you off. I wanted my proposal to be a complete surprise."

"You are so stupid! It would have been a total surprise, job or otherwise!"

"Sorry. I just wanted to make sure that your weren't suspecting anything."

"Still, that was totally idiotic."

"You can quit this job now."

"I love you!" You tackled Hikaru in a breath-taking hug and kissed him deeply.

*Bonus Ending*

After a few minutes of  making out in the front room, you two slowly made your way into your boss's office, as to avoid the strange looks you two got from the people who walked by the bar and looked in the window.

Hikaru started tugging at your shirt, wanting you to take it off.

You stopped him. "We probably shouldn't. This is my boss's office."

Hikaru smirked. "You're quitting this job, remember?"

"Oh yeah." You smiled. "Screw this job and my pervy boss."
